Totara Hospice provides adult specialist palliative care services to the communities of South and South-East Auckland, proudly supporting the diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and beliefs of our patient community. Their multidisciplinary team works closely with GPs, hospital teams, and community services to deliver expert-led, holistic support for both patients and their whānau, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout their journey. Their oldest patient to date was 104 years old, and their youngest just 16. Over the 2023-24 financial year, they provided care for almost 1,200 patients across South and South East Auckland. This region is one of Aotearoa’s largest, most diverse, and economically disadvantaged communities. As only around 53% of their funding comes from the government, they need to raise $5.5 million each year to keep their services free of charge. They focus on helping people live well and die with dignity, making sure everyone in their community has access to compassionate, high-quality palliative care. For more information see their website and Facebook: https://www.hospice.co.nz/ https://www.facebook.com/totarahospice
