AUSTI. Dance and Physical Theatre company class are open for intermediate - advanced level dancers. Classes are run by the director, Michelle Maxwell, former company artists and highly experienced guest teachers. Classes run intermittently throughout the year depending on the company’s performance and rehearsal schedule.

COST:

1.5 hour classes = $15
2 hour workshop/classes = $20

CONTEMPORARY with ANTON

Anton is a professional artist and arts producer with national and international experience as a performer, choreographer, producer, project director, dance filmmaker, movement director, rehearsal director and dance teacher. As a performer, he has worked with Dance North, Australian Dance Theatre, Tasdance, Legs on the Wall, Sydney Theatre Company, Australian Opera, Shaun Parker Company and independents Meryl Tankard, Tanja Liedtke and Martin del Amo. Commissions and choreographies include NARCIFIXION (Form Dance Projects 2021), Found (Sydney Arts Quartet, 2019) Supermodern - Dance of Distraction (Form Dance Projects, 2012), IOU (Spring Dance 2012, Sydney Opera House), Durak (Campbelltown Arts Centre, 2012), Beautiful Noise (Brisbane Arts Festival, 2011), Compact Homo Sapien (TanzFestival Ingolstadt, Germany, 2010), Capacity (WAPPA, 2010), The Blur (Tasdance, 2009) and Freedom to Launch (Sydney Opera House Education Unit, 2007).

Bonnie Curtis is the Artistic Director/Choreographer of Bonnie Curtis Projects. Her creations and collaborations have featured at festivals including ImPulsTanz, MuMoK (AT), Girona Film Festival (ES), Quadstock Music Festival (US), CinéWomen – Womenartconnect (EU), NZ Fringe (NZ), Sydney World Film Festival, Melbourne Fringe, March Dance, and Brand X (AU). She was supported by the Ian Potter Cultural Trust and Veolia Mulwaree Trust to join the ATLAS choreographic programme at ImPulsTanz, Austria. Bonnie is a rebel bun-head who discovered her love of dance theatre while living in Berlin. Her artistic discipline fuses technical elements of dance with creative and somatic practices.

Contemporary with Danni Cook

Friday 31 May, 12:30pm - 2pm @ Thirroul Dance Academy

Danni Cook is a freelance contemporary dancer of Māori, Mā’ohi and European descent with ancestral connection to the Ngāpuhi people of Aotearoa. Danni recently graduated from Western Australia Academy of the Performing Arts, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in contemporary dance. In 2022 Danni was selected to study abroad at Purchase Conservatory of Dance in New York. Her time overseas led her to connect and work with varying companies and choreographers, including a restaged performance of ‘Echad Mi Yodea’ by Ohad Naharin in Italy. With the support of Lucy Guerin Inc and Australian Dance Theatre’s Tanja Liedtke studio residency, Danni has been developing a co-led pan indigenous work. Danni is also co-developing a duo that was recently platformed at ‘Out of Bounds’ presented by Lucy Guerin Inc and Temperance Hall.
