Join us for a heartfelt celebration of the diverse narratives that shape modern Australia at SiTara's Story’s community event.


This special Australia Day gathering will honour the resilience and journeys of new Australian citizens while fostering connections with First Nations perspectives.

Kicking off with a poignant Welcome to Country, the event promises a rich tapestry of experiences, including:

1. Discussions that delve into the stories of resilience and unity shared by new citizens and First Nations peoples. We are honoured to have the following amazing people as our speakers. 

  • Chiaka Barry, MLA, Liberal Party ACT
  • Caroline Hughes AM, Ngunnawal Elder, 2020 Finalist ACT Australian of the Year, Ngunnawal
  • Mohammed Ali, Founder and Chair, Helping ACT
  • Anne Marie Khawaza, Senior Consultant, Reserve Bank of Australia
  • Siti Mustafa, Services Engineer, Construction Control, and
  • Zainab Farouk, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade)

2. Interactive Workshops featuring hands-on cultural activities, allowing participants to share their unique journeys.
3. Cultural Performances highlighting the voices of both new citizens and Indigenous Australians, showcasing their rich traditions and narratives.
4. A vibrant Marketplace where Canberra-based entrepreneurs will share their stories through artisanal art, delicious food, and engaging entertainment. 

This event offers a welcoming space for dialogue, connection, and celebration, open to everyone. With a special focus on embracing new citizens and multicultural communities, we aim to promote cross-cultural understanding and unity.
