Australia’s practical energy transition support for the Pacific
Event description
Join us at the #COP29 Australian Pavilion on Saturday 16 November for the launch of two exciting initiatives to provide practical support for Pacific Islands’ energy transition.
The Hon Chris Bowen MP, Australia’s Climate Change and Energy Minister, will be launching the initiatives, together worth $125 million, at the event hosted by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). It will also include a special showcase of pilot projects under DFAT’s Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Partnership initiative.
These include:
- Strengthening women’s control and access to clean and affordable energy in Vanuatu, introduced by Flora Vano, Country Manager, ActionAid Vanuatu and Michelle Higelin, Executive Director, ActionAid Australia
- Catalysing coffee through renewable energy for off-grid communities in Timor-Leste, introduced by Felisbela Guterres Pires, Country Manager, Engineers Without Borders Australia in Timor-Leste and Matt Graylee, Director, Raw Material
The event will be livestreamed through the DCCEEW youtube channel available here.
