Event description

This forum will be an interactive and enjoyable exchange of innovative successes, ideas and actions for improvement of both our Disability Employment (DES) and comparative NDIS supports, by comparing practices in Spain, and the European Union to Australia. CBS Inc. has partnered with Disability Employment Australia (DEA), The SA Council on Intellectual Disability (SACID), Fundacion Prodis in Spain to bring you this Forum and major sponsor B-Hart.

There will be expert presenters and panel members both with and without a disability to ensure we get a rounded opinion on what works well in both parts of the world. First - Zac Colton (Consumer), Peter Bacon, Pouya Farbod, Jenny Crosbie, Sam Paior, Melinda Brown (Consumer), Ruby Nankivell (Consumer), Laynie Dunne-Heynis & Kelly Treloar will dive into our current DES and NDIS programs from a consumer and service providers’ perspective.

Then, Marta Navarro Milian, who we will be bringing over from Madrid, with Mireia (Mimi) Artero-Medina will describe the impact of quota legislation on the employment and educational opportunities for people with a disability. Including the minimum of 2% targets in private businesses and how many big businesses like Zara have embraced PWD, with PWD being 50% of the workforce of some stores. Where the government has a 10% employment target and 2% of staff must be with an intellectual disability. This has encouraged planned pathways to university diploma and degree programs for more PWD and more people with an intellectual disability.

This is a chance to contribute, exchange and learn in an accepting and enjoyable environment. The result of this sharing should help us continuously share and improve what we do for all.

Coffee and tea available for all upon arrival and Spanish music playing.
