FAQs

• How do I register for workshops and tours?

  Workshop and tour registration is now live for everyone who purchases a General Admission ticket.

  After you have checked out with your General Admission ticket, follow the link on the confirmation screen to the ABCF Experiences Hub (you'll also be emailed a link in your confirmation email).
  

  All workshops and tours are first-come first-serve. Additional sessions may be added if there is demand and we have the available volunteers to do so.

• Where do I find the schedule for the festival?

  The schedule for ABCF has been published on our website here. It is subject to change, and we recommend checking the site periodically and keeping an eye on our website for updates. Major changes to workshop/tour details will be communicated via email to all registered attendees.

  Tours and workshops may be added in the lead up the event based on demand and volunteer availability.

• Is resort access included in my general admission ticket?

  No. While we partner with Hotham Resort Management to run the backcountry festival, access to the resort is managed separately.

  Day and multi-day permits are available on the Hotham website here.

  The Backcountry Festival is not responsible for any fines received by attendees for failure to purchase a resort entry permit.

  Please note, Hotham is no longer offering free entry after 3pm. If you stop within Mount Hotham resort bounds at any time, you are required to have a valid resort entry permit.

  In an effort to reduce costs (and be environmentally friendly) we encourage carpooling to the festival where possible. We have a Facebook group where we encourage attendees to organise rides up and down the mountain over festival weekend and POW has a 'Find a Ride' tool that serves the same purpose.

• Is lift access included in my general admission ticket?

  No. We are a human-powered backcountry event.

  Workshops, tours, and activities that are part of the Australian Backcountry Festival do not utilise the lifts at Hotham Resort, so a lift pass is not required to participate.

• I have questions about the festival! Who can I contact?

  The organising committee is exclusively made up of volunteers, so there may be a delay in response. We endeavour to reply to all communication as soon as possible.

  At each day of the festival, we will have a concierge desk staffed by volunteers. If you miss out on a workshop or tour, want a run down of the festival schedule, or just have a general question - we'll be around to help!
