Australian total solar eclipses - history and coming soon
Description
This free webinar will be held on Wednesday 14 October, 3.00pm – 4.45pm AEDT (UTC+11). The four speakers will examine historic solar eclipses and the Australia Wide Eclipse that will occur in 2028 (AWE2028). The event is organised by the Astronomical Society of Australia (ASA)'s History of Australian Astronomy Chapter (HAAC) in collaboration with the ASA Eclipse Working Group, and open to members and non-members of the ASA and the Chapter.
Program:
Each speaker will present for approximately 15 minutes, with a few minutes after for questions.
Nick Lomb: A Tale of two Cities: Sydney 1857 and Melbourne 1976.
Fred Watson: Proof of Einstein's General Relativity.
Melissa Hulbert: Observing the 2002, 2012 and 2023 total solar eclipses.
Kirsten Banks: Aspirations for the 2028 eclipse.
It is essential to register to attend on-line, and/or to receive recordings after the event.
