Australiana By Night
Description
After the magical debut of Australiana by Night in June, Braidwood singer/songwriters Mikelangelo (Michael Simic) and Lily Acheson join forces with Sutton-based pedal steel player Ged Corben once again, to reimagine Australian songs of the 1980s into a panoramic and evocative soundscape of dreams and memory.
Including beloved songs by The Church, Hoodoo Gurus and Hunters and Collectors and underground gems from Ed Kuepper, The Scientists and Beasts of Bourbon and more.
Acheson, Simic and Corben remake these classics into their own atmospheric and compelling versions, interspersed with their original songs inspired by Braidwood and surrounds.
This will be uniquely beautiful and memorable concert in an iconic local venue, The Braidwood Museum Ballroom (Oddfellows Hall). The debut show sold out quickly, so this time around they will be playing two shows so no-one misses out. Presented as part of the QPRC Arts Trail on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October.
Simic has made his name on national and international stages under his moniker of Mikelangelo, headlining major festivals and venues from the Sydney Opera House to London's West End.
Ged Corben cut his teeth playing in Sydney bands the Lime Spiders and the Cruel Sea in the 80s/90s and now manages his farm in Sutton and plays with a host of Canberra and Sydney bands.
Lily Acheson is known from local duo Earl, and has been collaborating with Simic on various projects over the last 18 months.
Both shows will be graced by a special musical guest, with Saturday night boasting Moozy of the Royal Belgian Conspiracy, and Sunday featuring local legend Lily Morris.
Look forward to seeing you there!
