Authentic Relating Activities
Event description
Join me (Cam) for an afternoon of Authentic Relating activities — interactive, paired, and group-based exercises designed to deepen connection with yourself and others.
If you are tired of small talk, and want to go beyond surface level conversations into meaningful expressions and authentic connection then this event is for you.
The aim is to create a space for self-discovery and empathic collaboration — learning how to express what’s present in the moment and build connection from a place of authenticity.
Together we’ll explore:
Deep listening and being truly heard
Expressing thoughts and emotions sincerely
Awareness of how we connect (or disconnect)
Practicing vulnerability, empathy, and presence
Boundaries, sensations, and self-expression
This event is open to anyone curious about relational practices. Some prior self-reflection (e.g. through therapy, journaling, or counselling) is recommended. We’ll begin with clear agreements around consent, boundaries, and confidentiality to ensure a safe and respectful space for everyone.
**Please arrive around 3:00pm for a 3:15pm start, and the doors will close at 3:30pm so that we can keep a safe container while exploring vulnerability and connection. Activities will finish around 5:30pm and people can stay around to chat and help pack up.
Event is free, although it is recommended that you donate to Black Spark Cultural Centre to keep the space going. Registration is preferred so that I can keep track of attendance numbers and plan better for it.
What is Authentic Relating?
Authentic Relating is a practice and philosophy that focuses on genuine, open, and honest communication in human interactions. It is about having real, honest, and meaningful conversations where people share what they truly feel and think, instead of just saying what they think others want to hear.
It’s a way of connecting where both people listen deeply, speak openly, and stay curious about each other. The goal is to build trust, understanding, and emotional connection. It helps people feel seen and heard, and encourages empathy and presence.
Through games, practices, and everyday conversations, Authentic Relating teaches people how to communicate more genuinely, creating stronger, more respectful relationships in friendships, dating, families, and communities.
