Realistic, three-dimensional characters are the core of any great story, and that's still true when the character is an alien, animal, monster, or other non-human. This workshop will explore strategies to create unique characters that feel authentically non-human but are still accessible and relatable to readers. To accomplish this, we'll study examples of non-human characters portrayed well in published fiction, as well as doing generative prompts and exercises to practice creating compelling non-humans of their own.

By the end of this workshop, participants will... have been supported with creative writing exercises as they learned ways to create realistic, three-dimensional non-human characters
