    Event description

Booranga Writers' Centre is thrilled to present Claire Baker as the guest author at The Curious Rabbit for our October event.

Claire Baker has lived in Wagga Wagga since 2000, moving with her family from the Central Coast of NSW. Having dabbled in poetry and other writing prior to this, it was joining Booranga Writers’ Centre and enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts course at Charles Sturt University that cemented her love of the poetry form and her desire to progress in her writing.

Her poems have been published many times in fourW New Writing, on a bus shelter, in art catalogues and accompanying on-line exhibitions. Her poem ‘Dinner with Family’ won the Open Adult Poetry Section of the inaugural Jugiong Writers Festival in 2017 and was selected for inclusion in Award Winning Australian Writing in that year.

Claire has enjoyed collaborating on public art projects within Wagga Wagga, such as a sound art project in South Town Walk arcade and the words for the dragonfly at the Wagga Wagga Airport.

Claire’s inspiration comes from personal relationships within her family and friends, observations of the natural environment, artwork and her other creative activities. She believes that everyone’s voice is important and that the joy of writing is something to be encouraged and nurtured.

The evening is bound to sell out so don't miss out on an evening of laughter, great conversation and the opportunity to share or discover writing talent in the Riverina.

Supper will have a Spring flavour of pea and mint soup with sourdough and can be prepurchased or available to purchase on the evening.
