Event description

Author Talk with Stefanie Koens: Daughters of Batavia
Two women. One shipwreck. And four centuries of secrets.

Stirling Libraries – Scarborough invites you to an unforgettable evening with Perth author Stefanie Koens as she delves into the hauntingly beautiful layers of her debut novel, Daughters of Batavia. This sweeping historical fiction bridges time and continents, weaving together the lives of two women—Tess McCarthy, a modern-day English teacher seeking truth on the remote Abrolhos Islands, and Saskia, a young Dutchwoman aboard the ill-fated Batavia in 1628.

Through mystery, loss, and unexpected love, Stefanie explores how the echoes of the past can shape the present. From shipwrecks and survival to family secrets and personal reckonings, this is a story that will stay with you long after the final page.
