Event description

A sensory-friendly evening for visitors of all ages and their families, friends and support workers.

About this event

Come along to the Museum after hours. Autistic visitors and those with other sensory needs can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum. This is a chance to see all of our permanent galleries, and maybe discover something you've never noticed before!

What is this event?

From 5pm-7pm, we'll open all the galleries to visitors with tickets for the event.

Tickets are free and are only available for people with sensory needs and their accompanying family, friends or support workers.

The Cafe will be open for coffee, tea and light refreshments until 6pm.

The Shop and Discovery Centre will be open until 7pm.

Who is this event for?

While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, we acknowledge that sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for neurodivergent visitors. We alter some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum to make it more accessible for this event, and there will be a low-sensory area. We have worked with Autism SA to provide autism-friendly charter training for Museum staff.

How do I book?

Please book a ticket on Humanitix for each attendee, including family members, friends and support workers (there is no need to book a ticket for a child under 3).
