Event description

Join Earthstar and Nicki on Saturday 22nd March at the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve between 1pm and 5pm to celebrate the turning of the Wheel.

We will be celebrating the Sabbat of Autumn Equinox - a point of balance when daylight hours are equal to night time hours before we move into the dark half of the year.

A wonderful afternoon of connection and community, held at the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve on Wadawurrung Country, Victoria. We will gather outdoors in the forest beside the Rec Reserve to celebrate this potent point in time. The second of three harvest festivals, a time for calling in balance and also when we see the fruits of our hard labour.

We will gather in nature, in the forest beside the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve, to connect not only with this point in the Wheel, but also to connect in deeply with the landscape and natural environment.

The afternoon will begin with an Acknowledgement of Country before we Call the Directions as a group, creating a safe and sacred container. We will share a cosmic weather report with you, drawing attention to the seasons and cycles and what is happening astrologically at the time of our gathering before we move into our first activity - creating an earth altar on the forest floor as a way of acknowledging both the seasons, the ancestors and the Earth which holds us all. We ask that everyone please brings along something to contribute to this. It could be some flowers or herbs from your garden, a feather, a stone tec. Natural items only please.

You will then be guided through a sacred crafting process by Earthstar, where we will create lanterns to carry the light with us as we venture into the dark half of the year. These lanterns will be used in our Equinox ritual later in the afternoon. We have the opportunity to look at this as a big spell crafting - feeling into what we need to let go of to bring balance to our lives.

We will then have a break for afternoon tea which will include a selection of nourishing home baked, seasonal treats and some delicious organic herbal teas. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions in the comment section when you purchase your ticket and we will be sure to accommodate you.

While we eat, Nicki will share her wonderful herbal knowledge with us all as she speaks about seasonal herbs, foods and practices, ways to both honour and nourish your body as the season shift. Sharing ways in which the seasons can be incorporated into your own personal practice at home.

The second part of our gathering will be our Autumn Equinox Ritual, followed by a Singing & Drumming Circle. Bring along your voice, your drum if you have one (other musical instruments are most welcome, or stamp your feet and clap your hands, drum your heartbeat on your chest - all forms of joyous self expression are welcome!). We will provide a basket of small percussion instruments to share, such as rattles and clap sticks... don't let not owning a drum be a reason to miss out!

There will be plenty of time throughout the afternoon to sink your roots in deeply and connect with the others who have come along. Please note that if the weather is bad we will move our gathering indoors, but all of the activities will remain the same.
