Guinea Pig Workshops
Event description
Join Eleanor and Meg, two dedicated members of our Animal Husbandry team, as they delve into the ins and outs of caring for these beloved small pets.
At CCF, we’ve been looking after guinea pigs for decades. These fun, hands-on workshops are a great opportunity for children 7 years and up to gain practical skills from two passionate, expert Farmers:
- With eight years at CCF, Eleanor's journey from public engagement to animal husbandry equips her with extensive expertise in facilitating safe and constructive interactions with animals.
- Meg brings over a decade of experience in animal welfare, specializing in the behavioral and health-related complexities of guinea pigs.
Whether you’ve owned guinea pigs before, are adopting for the first time, or have children who are interested in learning about responsible pet ownership, this course is for you!
Sessions run for 90 minutes each, and take place on three consecutive Saturday mornings. We recommend booking a package and participating in all three, or you can attend each independently:
- Housing, Equipment, and Enrichment - Saturday 26 April, 10:30 am–12:00 pm
- Basic Behaviour and Handling - Saturday 3 May, 10:30 am–12:00 pm
- Health and First Aid - Saturday 10 May, 10:30 am–12:00 pm
Tickets are $35 per session or $105 for all three.
Please note that those under 16 must be accompanied by a supervising adult, but entry is free for non-participating supervisors. Workshops take place in a Farm House adjacent to the main Children’s Farm site and as such, tickets don’t include the cost of general entry.
