Come celebrate the one year anniversary of our beautiful National Monument with a day full of events at Walking Box Ranch, Wee Thump Wilderness Area, the Searchlight Mystery Ranch and the Searchlight Community Center.

***PLEASE NOTE: many of the individual events have limited capacity and require you to RSVP. You can RSVP by purchasing a free ticket for the specific events you will be attending. More event details and locations will be sent to those who have RSVP'd. Thank you! ***

WALKING BOX RANCH & WEE THUMP WILDERNESS AREA
8:30AM to 11:30AM
  • native plant & cactus giveaway
  • tours of historic Walking Box Ranch @ 8:30AM, *NEW* 9:00AM, 9:30AM, *NEW*10:00AM, 10:30AM and *NEW*11:00AM (RSVP ticket required, 15 people maximum per time slot)
  • bird walk led by Ned Bohman of the Great Basin Bird Observatory @ 8:30AM (RSVP ticket required, 10 people maximum)
  • plant & wildflower hike led by plant ecologist Hermi Hiatt @ 10:30AM (RSVP ticket required, 10 people maximum)
  • *NEW* Walking Box Grounds Tours @ 8:30AM, 9:30AM & 10:30AM - Explore the significance of the area to Indigenous peoples, identify local plants and animals that can be seen around the Ranch, and discuss conservation efforts that help maintain this special place. (RSVP ticket required, 25 people maximum per time slot)
SEARCHLIGHT MYSTERY RANCH 
9AM-11AM (meet at 8:45)(RSVP ticket required, 15 people maximum)
  • help plant native plants near the wildlife pond (RSVP ticket required, 15 people maximum)
  • bring gloves and a trowel if you have them
  • tour the ranch
*NEW* GRANDPA'S ROAD BIRD & PLANT HIKES 
  • guided plant & bird hikes led by Morrigan DeVito of the Red Rock Audubon Society
    at 9:30AM (meet at 9:15) and at 11:00AM (meet at 10:45) (RSVP ticket required, 15 people maximum per time slot)
SEARCHLIGHT COMMUNITY CENTER
1PM to 4PM (doors open at 12:30)
  • doors open at 12:30PM with refreshments, booths & activities (including a fun solar-viewing with the LV Astronomical Society)
  • event program begins at 2pm
  • speakers about the monument, culture, nature, astronomy, history & more
  • Searchlight Gold Beam Issue 2 “Dreams & Visions” official release
  • performance by the Fort Mojave Marching Band and the Fort Mojave Bird Singers & Dancers
  • Tree giveaway by Nevada Plants
