AVIMEIR grew up in an ultra-Orthodox home, where singing and music were always central to family life. When he stepped out into the streets of Jerusalem he discovered new colours in his musical spirit. Along the way, he absorbed ethnic sounds from the synagogue, cassette tapes from the neighborhood, pop from the radio, and classical music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music. The blend he has crafted brings a new yet familiar melody — an East–West fusion that captures the spicy, lively, and relentlessly passionate spirit of Jerusalem.
