Avoiding Burnout as a Business Owner
Description
Please note: this event is run by the Small Business Development Corporation for small business owners in Western Australia only.
Small business owners often find themselves supporting staff, customers and clients through challenging situations while managing the everyday demands of running a business. Knowing how to provide support while maintaining appropriate boundaries is essential for both personal wellbeing and healthy business relationships.
This workshop explores the impact of stress, burnout and psychosocial risks in a small business environment. Participants will learn practical strategies to navigate difficult conversations, respond to wellbeing concerns with confidence and understand their responsibilities when creating a safe and supportive workplace.
The session also focuses on the importance of looking after your own wellbeing, recognising when additional support may be needed, and connecting with appropriate services and resources to help you and your business thrive.
This topic covers:
Understanding stress, burnout and psychosocial risks in small business
Recognising the signs that you, your staff or others may need support
Balancing care and support with appropriate personal and professional boundaries
Responding to difficult conversations about wellbeing and mental health
Supporting staff, customers and clients without taking on the role of a counsellor or health professional
Practical strategies to strengthen resilience and protect your own wellbeing
Connecting with support services, referral pathways and community networks
