AWDPI Australia Belonging Across Cultures: Young Asian Women in Conversation
About the Session
Belonging across cultures is rarely simple. It can shape how we see ourselves, build relationships, seek support and find our place in Australia.
Join AWDPI Australia for the first session of Voices & Perspectives — our community listening and dialogue series created to better understand the experiences, priorities and support needs of different communities.
This small-group online session brings together up to 15 young Asian women for a candid and facilitated peer conversation about identity, belonging and life across cultures.
Through guided reflection, anonymous activities and small-group conversation, you will have an opportunity to share what matters to you, hear from others with similar experiences and contribute ideas that can help shape future AWDPI programs and support.
We will be joined by Yuang Cheng, an award-winning social and health psychology researcher from The Australian National University, who will offer research-informed reflections and practical insights throughout the conversation.
You choose how much you wish to share. There is no expectation to speak about anything you are not comfortable discussing.

• How do culture, family and community expectations shape our identity?
• What makes it easier—or harder—to build meaningful social connections in Australia?

This is not a lecture.
Your experiences, perspectives and ideas are at the centre of the conversation.
