Come spend the day with us at the Awesome Human Festival — a free community festival bringing together neurodiversity, mental health, local supports, markets, activities, food and genuine human connection.

Think community festival meets local support expo — by the lake.

A place to discover what is available locally, meet the humans behind the services, join an activity or workshop, explore the markets, find community, learn something new or simply come along and enjoy the day.

Whether you are neurodivergent, navigating mental health challenges, supporting someone who is, working within the sector, or simply want to be part of a more understanding and inclusive community — you are welcome here.

Celebrating Neurodiversity Celebration Week, the Awesome Human Festival is about bringing people together, increasing understanding and making connection a little easier.

The festival is being thoughtfully designed with accessibility, different sensory needs, communication styles and individual ways of experiencing the world in mind.

Why the Awesome Human Festival?

Because finding the right information, support and community shouldn't have to be so hard.

We want to make it easier for people across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter to discover local supports, ask questions, make connections and find people who understand.

This isn't about fixing people.

It's about understanding people, connecting people and creating a community where more humans feel like they belong.

FREE Means FREE 🧡

Everyone gets the same festival experience.

General admission to the Awesome Human Festival is completely FREE.

Registrations are encouraged so we know how many Awesome Humans to expect and can plan the day accordingly.

You will also see two optional support tickets when registering:

🧡 Kindness Ticket — $10
Helps contribute towards the costs of bringing the Awesome Human Festival to life.

✨ Inspiration Ticket — $50
Helps cover the cost of having community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations involved in the festival.

These tickets do not provide additional access, benefits or inclusions.

You're simply choosing to financially support the festival and our community.

Any funds remaining after the relevant festival costs will go towards the Awesome Human Community and future community initiatives.

You don't need a diagnosis.
You don't need to know the right words.
You don't need to already be connected to the community.

You can come to learn.
Come to connect.
Come to support someone you love.
Come for the activities, markets and food.
