Book 1:  All Learning is Social and Emotional: Helping Students Develop Essential Skills for the Classroom and Beyond by Frey,

Fisher and Smith

At AzCEC, we recognize the crucial role of social and emotional learning (SEL) across all academic areas. We're excited to share with you a five-part SEL model, developed by Nancy Frey, Douglas Fisher, and Dominique Smith, which can seamlessly integrate into your daily instruction. This model helps prioritize SEL in your teaching, supporting students' overall development and interaction with content. Explore our resources and professional development opportunities to effectively implement this model and enhance student outcomes. Join us in fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.

Book 2: Maslow Before Bloom: Basic Human Needs before Academics by Dr. Bryan Pearlman

The MASLOW BEFORE BLOOM approach is a simple yet highly effective way to ensure that basic human needs are addressed before learning can occur. It's important to understand that if a student is hungry, tired, or scared, they cannot focus on learning until their needs are met. Implementing this approach does not require board approval or a bond issue, and it only takes a few minutes to make a significant impact on a student's life. With real-life stories, current research, and hands-on strategies, MASLOW BEFORE BLOOM has proven to be a successful problem-solving approach that can change a student's life trajectory and even save a life. We invite you to join the movement and make a difference in the lives of students by implementing this approach in your school or classroom.

Book 3:  Creating an Actively Engaged Classroom: 14 Strategies for Student Success by Todd Whitney

As educators dedicated to nurturing the potential of every student, it's essential to make lessons not just informative but also interactive and engaging. Your role in shaping lessons is pivotal, and there's always room for improvement. Research underscores that students, especially those with special needs and behavior challenges, benefit greatly from increased opportunities to actively participate in their learning. This book offers a comprehensive guide with 14 practical strategies designed to be seamlessly integrated into your classroom. Each strategy is meticulously detailed, outlining its advantages, drawbacks, and optimal implementation scenarios. Organized into three parts, you'll explore verbal engagement strategies, non-verbal engagement techniques, and partner/team-based approaches, empowering you to create dynamic and inclusive learning environments for all students.

Book 4: The Artificial Intelligence Playbook by Meghan Hargrove, Douglas Fisher et al.

Time Saving AI Tools that Make Learning More Engaging

As educators strive to optimize their time and enrich student engagement, Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a valuable ally. The Artificial Intelligence Playbook: Time Saving Tools that Make Learning More Engaging offers a roadmap for educators to harness AI effectively. By utilizing AI to compose writing prompts, manage content, foster student engagement, meet instructional needs, assess learning, and promote lifelong learning, teachers can elevate their planning and instruction. It's essential to recognize that while AI streamlines tasks, it can never overshadow the irreplaceable connection teachers forge with their students, a cornerstone of impactful learning experiences. Let's embrace AI as a tool to enhance, not replace, our educational practices, ensuring that our focus remains on nurturing student growth and success.
