Join us for an engaging talk on the history of the Ballarat 'Army' from 1858 to 1921. This presentation will delve into the rich military heritage of the Ballarat 'Army', including its Bacchus Marsh connections, highlighting key events, figures, and the evolution of the 'Army' during this period.

In addition to exploring Ballarat's military history and its Bacchus Marsh connections, Neil will demonstrate how to research family members' War Service Records, providing guidance and support to ensure everyone can uncover their family's military history.

About the presenter:

Neil Leckie is an avid military historian with publications to his credit including The Bushmen’s Rifles, a History of 22 RVR (1999) and Country Victoria’s Own, the history of the 8th/7th Battalion (2008). Neil served 34 years in the Army and Army Reserve, the last 10 years as the Executive Officer of 8/7 RVR in Ballarat before retiring in 2011. After retirement he maintained the position of Manager of the Ballarat Ranger Museum. He is also an individual member of MHHV. Credit: Neil Leckie – MHHV
