Backyard Biodiversity Safari with Permaculture Australia (Online) - Citizen COP 2026

Observe and Interact: Discovering Biodiversity Around Us

One of permaculture’s core principles is Observe and Interact — and biodiversity gives us the perfect opportunity to put it into practice.

Join Permaculture Australia for a relaxed online exploration of the life already present in our backyards, balconies, verges and neighbourhoods.

We’ll discover how paying closer attention to birds, insects, plants, soil, water and seasonal changes can help us better understand the ecosystems we’re part of — and make more thoughtful choices about how we garden and live.

This isn’t about being an expert. It’s about slowing down, noticing patterns, asking better questions and discovering what’s already happening around us.

By observing first, we can respond in ways that support habitat, diversity and resilience.

Come ready to see your own patch differently — and rediscover the living systems right outside your door.

This is a free online session by Permaculture Australia

About Citizen COP Australia

Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
