Event description

Welcome to BAD 2022 at the State Library of NSW! We have three days filled with crime fiction, true crime and social justice events, as well as crime walks and not one but two writing workshops. Come and hear the writers you love and meet new favourites. We’re really looking forward to seeing all our BAD friends on Thursday 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September. Friday night is crime quiz night so join us for a drink, some fun and to find out the winner of the Danger Prize for 2022! If you can’t be at the State Library you can also join us online.

  • Zoom links will be distributed to livestream ticket holders in the week of the festival.
  • ONLY sessions in the Dixson Room and Metcalfe Auditorium at the State Library of NSW will be livestreamed - this excludes evening events.
  • Recordings will NOT be available to watch immediately after the festival if you are unable to watch live.
    • Every livestream will be recorded, but due to the livestreaming services available at the venue they cannot be accessed immediately, and it will take several weeks for those recordings to be edited and uploaded, after which they will be available to the public to watch on our YouTube channel.

Ticketholders who purchase in-person tickets to four daytime sessions in one day will receive a State Library Bookshop voucher for $20!

To claim your Book Voucher/s, select the free Book Voucher ticket on the booking page. If you purchase in-person tickets to four daytime sessions on multiple days, you can claim the corresponding number of vouchers (e.g. if you book tickets to 4x Thursday sessions and 4x Saturday sessions, you can select 2x Book Voucher tickets).

NOTE: Book vouchers MUST be redeemed at the State Library of NSW Bookshop DURING the festival dates of 8-10 September. Vouchers cannot be used after the festival has passed. If you select Book Vouchers and are ineligible, they will be voided.

The Book Vouchers will be held at the festival info desk for collection during the Festival - look for us near the State Library of NSW Bookshop.

Please take care when booking your tickets to make sure that none of the sessions you are choosing have conflicting times - the festival has at least two events at any one time, and unfortunately, you cannot be everywhere at once!

Please choose your tickets carefully and check the dates and times, as we do not offer refunds. If you find you can no longer attend sessions to which you purchased tickets, we may be able to swap your tickets to different sessions (if they are not sold out), or change the name on your order if you would like to gift your tickets to a friend.

BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival and the State Library of NSW will be strictly complying with the most up-to-date rules from the NSW Government in regards to masks and physical distancing at the time of the festival.
