Balancing Act report launch
Description
We are honoured for you to join us at the online launch of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s new report, Balancing Act: Supporting working parents and carers.
Date: 26 November 2026
Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Where: Online
We will share what over 84 stakeholders told us needs to change to make workplaces more flexible and inclusive, improve access to justice, and better recognise the diverse ways Australians care for family and community. The program will include an overview of the report’s key findings and what needs to change, as well as an interactive Q&A session with our panel of experts, who will discuss the implications of Balancing act for advocacy and workplace reform. Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Anna Cody, will be joined by the following experts:
Georgie Dent, CEO of The Parenthood, is a prominent advocate for children, families, gender equity and mental health. The Parenthood champions paid parental leave, access to quality early childhood education and care and family-friendly workplaces.
Ana Maria Lopez, an advocate and people and culture specialist. Her work with Professional Migrant Women focuses on supporting professional migrant women in Australia to overcome employment barriers.
Sandra Creamer AM, CEO of Australian Women’s Health Alliance, brings extensive experience in women’s health and domestic violence. The Australian Women’s Health Alliance draws attention to how gender shapes experiences of health and health care, and that women’s health is determined by social, cultural, environmental and political factors.
Michael Wilson, Research Fellow with Movember Institute of Men’s Health, focuses on gender as a social determinant of mental health in boys and men, the role of key relational life transitions in men’s health – including relationship breakdown and the transition to fatherhood.
