Hit the opening launch at Wadjar Regional Indigenous Gallery on Saturday, 3 October 2026, from 3–5pm to experience a powerful, contemporary surge of culture and storytelling.Named after the broad-leaved paperbark tea tree in Gumbaynggirr language, Balawun.ga turns nature into a metaphor for raw truth-telling. Tori Ann’s art practice dynamically peels back the complex layers of time, history, and identity—exactly like the shedding bark of the tea tree. Underneath those layers lie ancient, enduring ancestral stories and a framework of communal care. It is bold, it is protective, and it is a definitive celebration of cultural strength.
