Join us at Perth City Farm for an inspiring evening exploring how balconies, courtyards and other small spaces can help create a greener, healthier and more resilient city.
Whether you want to grow food, attract wildlife, cool your home or simply bring more nature into your life, this forum will show how even the smallest urban spaces can have a meaningful impact.

Catherine Lezer, Strata Community Association WA will be our MC for the evening.
Catherine has her own balcony challenges battling the sun and wind. She knows firsthand some of the problems urban city dwellers experience.
Chris Ferreira, The Forever Project
Chris will explore the broader benefits of small-space gardening, including increased biodiversity, improved air quality and reduced urban heat.
Lisa Passmore, Greenlife Industry WA
Lisa will talk about the social aspects of greening the small spaces you have access to.
City of Perth Urban Greening Team
Hear about the City’s urban greening goals and how residents can contribute to a greener Perth.
You will also have the opportunity to explore Perth City Farm’s new balcony garden demonstration area and gather practical inspiration for your own space.
The evening will include presentations, conversation and time to connect with other urban gardeners and curious beginners. No gardening experience is needed.
Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar.

Public Transport - With the Yellow CAT bus stop right outside the Farm Gate and Claisebrook Train Station right next door, taking public transport to Perth City Farm is super easy.
Driving - Parking can be found on CPP Royal Street

Perth City Farm is a community urban farm that supports connected, sustainable communities. Established on a former industrial site in East Perth, this polluted site has been lovingly rehabilitated by volunteers to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement. We provide space and opportunities to build community connections, and educate and enable people to live sustainably.

Lisa Passmore | Executive Officer, Greenlife Industry WA (GIWA)
Horticulture is in Lisa's DNA. Daughter of Good Earth Garden Supplies founder Linda Stanley and renowned Garden Guru Neville Passmore, she grew up immersed in the industry and spent her formative years working across some of WA's most respected nurseries, including Waldeck's and Zanthorrea, as well as garden centres in the UK and New Zealand. In 2000 Lisa established her own garden design and consultancy business, Inspired by Nature, and served as board president of the Landscape Industry Association WA (LIAWA) for several years. She has taught Garden Design at Homebase for nearly 20 years, lectured in Horticulture at South Metro TAFE, and contributed regularly to magazines and talkback radio, including 6PR's Night Shift with Tod Johnston. Holding a Diploma in Horticulture, a Diploma in Permaculture and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Lisa brings deep expertise to her role leading GIWA, where her focus is on growing the industry, championing horticulture as a rewarding career, and fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
Chris Ferreira | Director, The Forever Project
Chris Ferreira has been a leading, high profile exponent of sustainable land management in WA for over 25 years. He specialises in innovative education programs that inspire and empower people from all walks of life to lead more fulfilling and sustainable lives, with expertise in sustainable landscaping, urban forestry, landcare, sustainable small farm management, water, nutrient and energy efficient building, revegetation and sustainable urban design. Chris is the Founder and Managing Director of the award winning company, The Forever Project (incorporating Landcare Solutions) specializing in environmental design, management, community engagement education and media. Directly and through his programs Chris has taught over 130,000 people with his inspiring and empowering talks on all aspects of sustainable living in WA, emerging as a leading authority on sustainable living in WA.
