Ballet After Dark
Description
BALLET AFTER DARK
A contemporary triple bill by Brisbane Ballet and hosted by Artistic Director Emrys Goldsworthy. A very intimate evening of modern ballet.
Please note: not designed for those under the age of 16, includes adult themes.
Bar opens at 6pm
Ballet After Dark brings together three contemporary works exploring ballet beyond the traditional stage — from the saturated colours of Spectrum, through the strange nostalgia and playfulness of Mozart Variations, to an entirely new work driven by modern and 80s electronic music.
Spectrum
Music by Joby Talbot
A vivid, colour-driven work unfolding through three distinct scenes: Red, Purple and White. Each colour becomes its own atmosphere, allowing movement, emotion and musical texture to shift as the palette changes. 35 minutes
Intermission 20 minutes
Mozart Variations
Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
A playful and whimsical work inspired by the rituals of childhood — nursery rhymes, schoolyard games, repetition, competition and imagination. Classical technique meets a slightly mischievous world of memory and play. 12 minutes
Mixtape
Music by various electronic artists
A new contemporary creation set to modern and 80s electronic music, pushing the evening into a darker, more physical and distinctly after-hours direction. 21 minutes
