Balls & Chains - The Musical @ Humph Hall
Event description
A full production of Ted Egan's musical about the Australian convicts 'Balls & Chains'. Ted, who has been for decades a very popular singer/songwriter in the Australian country/folk scene, was also the Administrator of the Northern Territory (2003-2007). There is an audio version of 'Balls & Chains' but Loosely Woven's upcoming production will be the first time it has every been staged.
Loosely Woven is a community based group of people who put together and perform two to three new shows each year and is the main reason Gial and I bought the former Allambie Heights Uniting Church and established Humph Hall in the first place.
'Balls & Chains' is by far the most ambitious project undertaken by Loosely Woven since it performed Gilbert & Sullivan's comic opera Trial by Jury back in 2019. Once again we are very fortunate to have the amazing Christine Logan (from Endangered Productions) directing us as well as the amazing Maria Dunn who has adapted and arranged the musical for us.
There will be number of performances around the state including two here at Humph Hall. See here on the Loosely Woven web site for details about the other performances.Â
The performance will be accompanied by a 7 piece band with two violins, viola, cello, two flutes & piano.
A very special event not to be missed! :-)
