Across the city, the Shoalhaven Water network consists of 3 storage dams, 38 water reservoirs 26 pumping stations and over 1500 kilometres of water mains.

The Bamarang water treatment plant, opened in 1982, is our main water facility and can process up to 75ML of fresh clean drinking water each and every day. (ML = 1,000,000 litres).

Like to see and lean more? Being National Water Week, join us at our (free) Bamarang Open Day, Saturday 24 October 2026. Take one of the three guided tours... providing explanation and insight to how your drinking water is collected, treated, and delivered to your home tap.

We will explore why water treatment is essential for maintaining a healthy environment and discuss how Shoalhaven Water is adopting environmentally responsible practices supporting a circular economy in the Shoalhaven.

Register now, tickets are complimentary, but bookings are essential... each tour is limited to 20 places.

Please note, as this is a working plant, it is a requirement enclosed footwear is worn. Further, the tour will take participants up and down a few sets of stairs as we walk through the treatment plant.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
