Featuring

Ant Farm

matt Love: vocals guitar

rob crawford: drums

tamara playne: bass

Hailing from Brisbane Australia, Ant Farm are on a mission to bring their upbeat lo-fi indie pop to the grateful masses.

Ant Farm formed in 2024 but their sound has its roots in the post punk and indie pop of the late eighties and early nineties.

The band features pop newcomer and visual artist Tamara Playne on bass, drummer Rob Crawford, who is a survivor of the early Brisbane post-punk scene of the eighties (The Lemmings), and Matt Love, guitarist/singer/song writer of perennial pop favourites Even As We Speak.

When not busy with indie pop, Tamara perfects her ability to count bars of silence till her next cymbal crash in a brass band.

Rob keeps the drum stool warm for a number of local bands including the Craftwork Re-crafted and Dustbin Hoffmans.

Matt’s skill as a songwriter is evidenced by his work with Even As We Speak, who have done multiple Peel Sessions, signed with Sarah Records and Phantom Records, are favourites of the UK indie scene where they have regularly toured, and are a regular feature of the various international popfests.

Similar sounds include Flying Nun Records, Sarah Records, C86 etc.

Waving at Cars

Waving at Cars is a Brisbane based rock trio playing sharp, paired down power pop. Their songs are lyrically distinct and melded with hook worm melodies. From the dark edges of dystopian landscapes to pleasant tuneful pastures, Waving at Cars maintains a pure pop sensibility with a curious take on the human condition.

ENSO

Meet ENSO, a band of five seasoned gents who’ve traded in their golf clubs for guitars and their sensible shoes for, well, slightly less sensible shoes. Each member brings a unique flavour to this melodious mix, reminiscent of a well-aged cheeseplatter—sharp, a little nutty, andoccasionally stinky.

Drew Beaman: guitar

Dave K: vocals, harp

Dave W: guitar

Angus Rich: drums

Pete Taylor: Bass

Drew “The Beatle”: Drew's strumming technique is a perfect blend of nostalgia and sheer stubbornness. He believes the secret to a great power pop song is to “just add more harmonies”.

Dave K“The Lyrical Legend”: With a penchant for deep, philosophical lyrics about love, loss, and his garden gnomes, Dave pens songs that sound deceptively simple but may need a thesaurus. He scribbles lyrics on napkins during dinner — much to the dismay of waitstaff everywhere.

Dave W “The Fashionista”: Wearing vintage rock tees and pants that are definitely from the “I used to be cool” collection, Dave thinks power pop should come with a side of flair. His guitar solos are punctuated by dramatic gestures that make you question if you’re at a concert or a Broadway show.

Angus “The Backbeat”: An engineer by day, Angus’ drumming style is precise and calculated, much like his approach to fixing a leaky tap. He has an uncanny ability to keep a steady beatwhile simultaneously calculating the odds of winning at bingo later that evening.

Pete “The Rock”—the bottom end of ENSO and the only guy who can make a four-stringed instrument sound like a whole symphony... on a good day!
