Are you interested in supporting your community in times of crisis?

Anglicare’s Disaster Recovery Volunteer Program trains and accredits local volunteers to assist in evacuation and recovery centres.

Ex‑Tropical Cyclone Alfred highlighted critical gaps in local evacuation centre staffing: our communities can become isolated, and formal supports struggle to reach us.

Communities like Uki and Murwillumbah have already formed Anglicare Disaster Recovery Teams, building critical local capacity and stocking essential supplies ahead of time.

Byron Shire now has the opportunity to establish its own ‘Anglicare Team’ to provide compassionate, practical care when disaster strikes.

Whether you're new to volunteering in emergencies or looking to broaden your volunteer skills, this session will equip you with the knowledge, confidence and connections to support your community when it needs you most.

No prior experience or religious affiliation is required.
