Banned Books Read In
Description
Grab your favorite banned book and join us for our Banned Books Read-In! This event, which was created by Libro.fm and Silent Book Club, is perfect for readers who are looking for a community event to meet people, chat about books and book banning, and spend some time reading.
This event will include about one hour of silent reading, followed by about 30 minutes of free time to either continue reading or chat with the readers around you. Educational resources will be provided to take home, and this event will include a free audiobook version of either Banned Together or How to Defend Books and Why, courtesy of Libro.fm!
All book formats are welcome! Please plan to bring the audiobook version or a physical copy of your favorite banned book.
We want to thank OLLI-UM for co-sponsoring this event with us. You can learn about this wonderful organization here: www.olli-umich.org
We love seeing who is planning to join us! Your RSVP helps us prepare to host you.
About Libro.fm and Silent Book Club:
Libro.fm is an employee-owned Social Purpose Corporation that shares profits from your audiobook purchases with your chosen bookstore, giving you the power to keep money within your local economy. Visit Libro.fm to learn more.
At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Our events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour or so of sustained silent reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not! Find a local chapter near you by visiting https://silentbook.club
