Banned from Utopia: Ray White, Chad Wackerman, Robert Martin, Scott Thunes, Jamie Kime, and Mike Miller featuring the debut opening act of Colonel Beefheart’s Magic Band
Banned From Utopia, featuring touring and recording alumni from Frank Zappa’s band, will perform at the Bornemann Theatre in San Marcos, CA, on Saturday, November 2nd. This special appearance marks the 7th and final show of the Halloween 2024 series, honoring Zappa’s tradition of multi-day Halloween performances.
The band features:
- Ray White (vocals), a key member from 1976-1984, known for his co-lead vocals on numerous Zappa tours and albums.
- Chad Wackerman (drums), an acclaimed jazz and rock drummer with a seven-year association with Zappa, and an extensive career that includes work with Steve Vai, Barbara Streisand, and James Taylor.
- Robert Martin (keys/horns), a Zappa alumnus from 1981-1988, whose high-range vocals and saxophone contributions are featured on several classic Zappa albums. He’s also collaborated with Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney.
- Scott Thunes (bass), Zappa’s longest-serving bassist (1981-1988) and trusted musical director, known as the "Clonemeister."
- Mike Miller and Jamie Kime (guitars), both highly experienced, with Miller credited on over 200 albums and Kime known for his work with Dweezil Zappa and Jewel.
