Banyule - Hands on Basic Bike Maintenance - Macleod

Join this hands on interactive basic bike maintenance workshop!

Over two and half hours you'll get to know your bike better while also learning;

• how to make sure your bike is safe to ride

• the names of things so you can google them.

• how to remove front and back wheels

• the different ways to deal with a flat tyre

• looking after your chain and why you should.

• Depending on progress on the day we may also have time for participants to work on own bike, ask questions, and get assistance and advice regarding maintenance issues.

  
  This course is commissioned by the Banyule City Council and led by Instructors from Bike it Better.

Dates: Sunday, 8 November 2026 and Sunday, 28 February 2027

Fee: $25 full or $5 concession

Who is this session suitable for?

• Anyone interested in learning to maintain and perform basic repairs and safety checks on their bike or their kids' bikes.

• Kids over 13 years old although they MUST be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

• Participants MUST live, work or study within Banyule City Council.

What should I bring?

• Bring your clean bike so that you can practice everything we learn on it.

• Bring any tools you have, or have questions about. We'll have some spares to share for use in the class as well.

• Electric bikes that comply with Victorian regulations are welcome although we will not be covering issues specific to e-bikes.
