Bare it for the Bears - A fundraiser to free the bears from bile farms

A night of debauchery, joy, playfulness and gay sh*t.... raising money for the bears <3

Welcome to Bare It for the Bears: four hours of performance, kink, dancing, jelly wrestling, lap dances, go-go dancers, living your silly goose dreams and community, all in the name of helping some very deserving bears live the lives they should have had all along.

WHY THE BEARS?

Bear bile farming is an extraordinarily cruel practice that has existed across parts of East and Southeast Asia for decades. Predominantly moon bears and sun bears are kept captive (sometimes for decades) while their bile is repeatedly extracted from their gallbladders. Many spend enormous portions of their lives confined in cages with very little ability to move, play, forage or behave naturally. For some, it's all they ever know.

And the particularly f*cked part? The cruelty isn't necessary. Synthetic alternatives to bear bile already exist.

For decades, Animals Asia has been working to end bear bile farming, rescue surviving bears and give them something many have never experienced before: a life outside a cage. But getting a bear out is only the beginning.

Rescue means transport. Veterinary care. Medicine. Rehabilitation. Food. Sanctuary staff. Specialised facilities. And then all of the things that allow a traumatised animal to actually start being a bear again, climbing, swimming, playing, foraging, snoozing in the sun and absolutely demolishing their favourite foods.

That means things like pools, swings, tyres, enrichment toys, melons and bananas. We are raising money for the general funds so they can keep this incredible work going.

AND THEN THERE'S SHIRLEY. (AKA CHARLIES MUM)

This fundraiser also has a very personal beginning and you can't have this night without hearing this story. Charlie's mum, Shirley, has quietly sponsored moon bears since 2009.

In 2015, Shirley began a new chapter of her own, emerging from a marriage and discovering what freedom looked like for herself. Last year, for her 60th birthday, she took her first ever solo overseas trip and travelled to Vietnam to visit an Animals Asia sanctuary and finally meet the bears she had spent so many years supporting.

Not only is this happening because we are gonna save some f**king bears, but we are putting this on to celebrate a powerful woman who has chosen herself, and showing her how her work can make a huge difference.

So people, let's throw a massive sexy silly party for the bears.

100% of money raised will be donated to Animals Asia to support their work caring for rescued bears and the sanctuaries that become their homes.

Across the night you'll find:

Performances, a kink station where spanking and impact play is on offer, commanded by none other than Miss Ayla Reid, Gogo dancers, jelly wrestling, lap dances and a good old fashioned raffle. Except no meat trays here!

There will also be information throughout the venue about moon bears, sun bears, bear bile farming and the work being done to end it.

This is a fundraiser, so we're keeping entry accessible.

Tickets are by donation, with a $10 minimum.

Come with $10 if that's what you've got. Come with more if you've got more.
