Where everyday dogs become legends! 🐾

The Barkfest Dog Dash is back for 2026 and proudly supported by Vetora Waikato.

This is a 50m(ish) sprint like no other – your dog dashes from one human to another, with Barkfest bragging rights (and prizes!) on the line.

Categories include:

• Sausage Sprint – For the low-riding, long-bodied legends

• Tiny Trotters – Small but speedy dogs under ~7kg

• Mighty Middies – Medium-sized movers, 7–10kg

• Big Softies – Gentle giants with a need for speed

• Leggy Legends – Long-legged lopers

Each dog must be accompanied by two confident and responsible humans aged 10 or over – one at the start line and one waiting at the finish.

Before you enter... PLEASE READ THIS.

• The Dog Dash is fast, fun and exciting, with up to six dogs racing at the same time off lead. There is always risk.

• For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, your dog must be highly socialised, have the appropriate temperament for this environment, regularly participate safely in off-lead environments with other dogs, and have a strong recall.

• Please read the full Dog Dash Entry Terms & Conditions carefully before entering. By entering, you agree to comply with these conditions.

• There are no on-the-day entries. We want everyone entering to have had time to consider whether the Dog Dash is right for their dog and to understand the Entry Terms & Conditions.

• There will be a maximum of six dogs in each race, although we may reduce this number where required for safety. Depending on entry numbers, categories may run as straight finals or heats and finals. The top three dogs in each final receive a prize.

And one last thing...

The Dog Dash is not the Olympics. It’s a fun event to enjoy with your dog. We know your dog is the best dog in the world (obviously), but please respect our volunteers and their decisions if your superstar doesn't receive the placing you were hoping for.

Come for the fun, cheer on all the dogs and remember...our volunteer judges decisions are final, there is no video review and there is no photo finish camera🏁🐕💨
