Description

FREE Ramsar Week 2026 event

Join a guided canoe tour of Barwon Estuary to explore Ramsar wetlands, mangroves, and birdlife during Ramsar Week 2026

Get fully immersed in the Port Phillip Bay (western shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar site with a guided canoe tour of the Barwon Estuary. Estuaries are the interface between waterways and the ocean where fresh and salt water blend, creating unique environments that support a variety of plants and animals.

Keep an eye out for birds, crabs and fish as you paddle amongst mangroves and visit a floating roost platform installed by Birdlife Australia and Corangamite CMA to provide a predator-free rest stop for birds.

No prior canoe experience required. Please be aware you will get wet during this event. Please wear appropriate clothing that is sun smart and can get wet, including closed-toe shoes.

If the weather becomes unfavourable or if Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings are declared, the event will be cancelled and participants will be notified as soon as possible.

This event is part of Ramsar Week 2026 - a week of FREE activities from 2 to 6 February celebrating the internationally recognised Ramsar wetlands in the Corangamite CMA region. Learn more at www.ccma.vic.gov.au/ramsar-week
