Event description
Kick-start Your Research Impact Journey: Base Program Equips You with Essential Tools and Skills
Cruxes Innovation’s Base Program is a purpose-designed professional development program that kick-starts your journey towards making a positive impact with research. Through a flexible learning environment, gain the skills and tools to effectively communicate the value of your research and initiate partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders. Propel your career forward by demonstrating the practical relevance and impact of your research, opening doors to new opportunities and advancement.Â
Program Content: The Base Program introduces you to tools and frameworks including:Â
- Massive Impact, drawing on the science of motivation, systems thinking and impact planning to stretch your thinking about the positive difference your research or idea might make in the world.Â
- Gaddie Pitch, a simple framework to explain your research to anyone in a minute, and start a conversation.  Â
- Research to Impact Map, drawing on lean innovation tools and the stakeholder discovery process to identify critical assumptions about the value of your research to customers/end-users.  Â
- Stakeholder discussions: validate your assumptions about the value of your research by engaging with potential partners in industry, government, and the community, and understanding their problems. Learn the art of how to initiate this engagement, and how to guide these discussions to get real insights into the way these partners see the world.  Â
- Intellectual property 101: a brief introduction to the role and value of IP in creating impact, and basic tips on how to deal with IP and disclosure considerations in stakeholder discussions.  Â
In the Base Program, you’ll learn about each of these tools, and get hands-on experience applying them to your research project and talking to real stakeholders.  Â
- The Base Program starts with a three-hour facilitated online kick-off workshop, including a program introduction, program goals, and tips on how to gain the most value from the program. 20-40 researchers typically participate, working in a variety of research fields. Â
- Self-paced on-line modules introduce the tools, and activities to apply them to your project.Â
- One-on-one coaching to gain personalised feedback and deep dive into your individual context and circumstances to unblock any barriers in applying the tools to your project.Â
Time commitment:Â
The total time commitment for each participant is approximately 15 hours across 4-6 weeks. The program is recommended to be completed within four weeks of the kick-off workshop. Â
