PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

I always run this session with a great deal of interactivity to try to give everyone as immersive and as challenging an experience as possible.

and again, I believe the most valuable thing for your learning is to keep this interactive, spend as much time teaching and challenging you to think on your feet and construct answers to the exercises I challenge you with.

I am confident I can give you a great learning experience BUT to do this I want everyone to read my (overly detailed instructions) to try and increase the potential for an excellent, immersive learning experience.

THINGS TO DO Prior to Saturday's session:

Fast internet connection

o Please find a location with a reliable internet connection

o This may be your home, library, hospital… even Starbucks. Whatever works!

o Please don’t miss out due to a bad connection

o Check your home connection and if you are using a different room to normal please check this as well

Plan your space and time

o Make sure you have the time to be completely free for this course

o If you have children (or partner) who need babysitting, please plan ahead.

o You don’t want to miss out on the drills and participation. This is where all the learning happens!

o Test it out with a friend BEFORE SATURDAY, to make sure the camera and microphone are working.

Organise refreshments

o This will be an intensive session so have snacks and coffee ready

Please check out the workbook (I'll send this to you a few days before)

o There’ll be mainly exercises to get you speaking, but the workbook has some space to write down useful points, ideal answers and some tables

Try to organise a BUDDY or group (totally optional)

o It's always more fun learning with a study mate

o As you can probably tell, I really really REALLY want people to do this with someone else, practising talking out loud and collaborating. Learning medicine is often about sharing ideas, good communication and teamwork, so that is how we have to practice.

o Plan a location to Log in together (or by phone call)

On the day of the course

Have your video on!

o Having a visible audience gives me so much information about how you are going with the questions,

o Have a space ready, with no embarrassing backdrops.

o Get out of your PJs, and dress like you are going in to work

Computer ready?

o Make sure you have power adaptor and cables if you are travelling away from home. NO computer is going to last this session on battery alone!

Log in at 8:45am(AEDT)

o I’ll start the course at 9:00am SHARP, so it'll to give us time to sort out any tech issues.

o Depending on COVID restrictions, please arrange to meet at a location to log in together

o If you are unable to meet due to restrictions, please arrange to facetime/FB video call/ whatsapp video call your viva buddy.

o You won’t be able to use Zoom for this.
