In this 3-part workshop series repurpose soft plastic food packaging into dazzling baskets with Yee May |
Over 3 sessions Yee will show you how to repurpose your empty chip or cracker plastic packets to create a sturdy and functional basket. Make a difference through creativity. If you are concerned about your family’s or friends’ food packaging waste, here is an opportunity to source, save and upcycle empty chip packets, and stop them from ending up in land-fill. Basket making will progress over three sessions of 2 hours each. Most participants will complete their basket with handles by the end of the 3rd session. If you haven't you will have acquired While visiting family in Malaysia, Yee May was taught to make these amazing baskets by her auntie. Since returning to Australia, over many years Yee May has perfected this technique, and at every opportunity shares her skills with members of the community. As someone who cares deeply about the impact of waste on our natural environmental Yee May describes her basket making as a creative way to make a difference.
