Basket Weaving Bliss - A Day of Craft, Creativity, and Connection

Are you ready to get your weave on?
This full-day Weaving Retreat will help you cultivate creativity, calm and connection, as you learn the ancient craft of coil basket weaving.
You can weave with premium raffia, special pandanus fibres, or vintage fabrics - or a mix of everything! You will learn the skills to create baskets, vases, wall hangings, earrings and more ...
This workshop covers four styles:
- Blanket stitch
- Wrapping stitch
- Mariposa stitch
- Cobbling technique
You may work on just one style, or learn them all.
All materials are provided, along with a wholesome vegetarian lunch and tea/coffee.
This event has a maximum of 15 people. All genders, abilities, and expressions of identity are welcome.
The venue
Basket Weaving Bliss takes place at Bardon Hall, adjacent to the picturesque Bowman Park in Brisbane/Meanjin.
Parking is available on site.This venue is wheelchair accessible via a ramp. Please don't hesitate to contact your host if you have any questions around accessibility. Support workers are able to attend.
What to bring
You will be invited to bring along a Nature item that in some way represents your decision to attend the weaving retreat. This could be a leaf, rock, flower, stick, or anything else.
You may also like to bring:
- A blanket or jumper
- An open heart
- Any embellishments you would like to weave into a basket/bowl/wall hanging, eg feathers or beads.
