batyr x Swinburne Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshop π
Event description
Swinburne University is inviting all students to join batyr for a peer-to-peer mental health & wellbeing workshop on September 10, recognising World Suicide Prevention Day.
π Who is batyr?
batyr is a preventative mental health organisation, which champions a peer-to-peer approach.
Tragically, suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia. While stigma surrounding mental ill-health is slowly decreasing with the efforts of organisations like ours, the fact is almost half of young Aussies are experiencing mental ill-health and not getting the support they desperately need.
At batyr, we believe we can help change this heartbreaking reality. We share lived experience mental health stories that inspire action, reaching students early and often with the tools they need to look after themselves and each other before a crisis.
What to expect:
π€ Mental health stories that inspire action:
Hear a young person share their Lived Experience story of hope, courage, and resilience through their mental health journey. By sharing similar lived experiences, we make it easier to connect and spark real change. Itβs all about hearing from someone who's been there.
π§ Learn what works:
Explore effective techniques to support yourself and others to maintain a healthy balance throughout your academic journey, and how to look out for yourself or a friend going through a tough time.
π Providing the tools to seek help:
Walk away knowing where and how to seek help at Swinburne Uni and beyond.
β¨Not your average:
Picture top 40 music, challenges and high energy! We give students a positive experience talking about mental health.
