Dunedin Observatory - Open Nights 2026

Public nights are held each Sunday night from April to September (i.e. not during Daylight Savings Time as sunset is too late).

We start at 7:00pm and usually finish around 9pm (depending on demand).

• Guided telescope viewing of planets, nebulae, star clusters, and distant galaxies.

• Live commentary from passionate local astronomers.

• Laser-guided tours of the constellations.

• A warm indoor presentation if the weather is not cooperative.

Admission fees are $10 per person. Under 5's  are free. There is no charge for members.
