Community Day at the Back Bay
Description
This is an open house style event and staff and volunteers will be available on site to answer your questions. Join us anytime between 10am-2pm on Sundays to tour the facility, including Shellmaker trail, teaching lab, and aquatic lab. Learn about the Back Bay Science Center's Educational Programs and how you can get more involved.
Also on site, you will find Newport Bay Conservancy’s Native Plant Nursery. Our nursery cultivates native California plants, which play a crucial role in habitat restoration in the Upper Newport Bay. - Where do I park?
Free parking is available on site.
- Are there bike racks available?
Yes! Bike racks are located in the back of the building by the touch tanks. Please do not ride your bike on the trails on the island.
- Can I bring my pet?
We love our furry family members but dogs and other pets are not allowed due to endangered bird activity.
- Are there guided tours of the facility?
This event is a self-guided open house style event with staff and volunteers available on site to answer questions. We are able to host guided tours for groups of 10+ people with several months advance notice. - Can I get volunteer hours for attending?
No, we do not have any public volunteering opportunities available at this event, so you will not be able to receive service hours for attending. If you'd like to get involved, check out newportbay.org/volunteer-opportunities
