Gender Equity Insights 2025: New Report coming 14 October

Register now to attend the national online launch event

New research from the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) will be released in a national online launch event on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.

Join us as we release the 2025 report in the Gender Equity Insights series.

The report delivers new analysis of WGEA’s world-leading dataset on gender equality in Australian workplaces. It marks 10 years of BCEC and WGEA’s Gender Equity Insights series and comes at a pivotal moment for Australia’s workplaces.

A decade of employer reporting to WGEA against six key metrics, which are indicators of progress towards workplace gender equality, tells us that although Australia’s gender pay gap is reducing, gender segregation of the workforce remains entrenched in every industry.

This new report investigates how long-term, committed action by employers is driving progress in industries and where more attention is needed to reduce gender pay gaps and improve gender equality for women and men at work.

The findings shine a light on the connection between gender diversity in leadership and financial performance and identify key actions employers can take to increase their ability to recruit and retain high-performing talent.

Join BCEC Director Professor Alan Duncan and WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge as we drill down on results for industries to deliver tailored insights about where progress is building toward workplace gender equity, and where we should shift focus to accelerate change.

The discussion will be moderated by Catherine Fox AM, a leading commentator on women and the workforce, an award-winning journalist, author and presenter. Alan, Mary and Catherine will be joined on the panel by BHP's Michelle Kam, Vice President Talent and Performance, to discuss the new findings and what they mean for Australian workplaces.
