A special event for our patients
Each year, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, St Andrew’s Hospital brings together current breast cancer patients and their guests for the Breast Care Luncheon.
For more than 25 years, this special event has provided an opportunity for patients to come together outside the clinical environment - to reflect, learn, laugh and share, while being inspired by one another’s experiences.
The luncheon is carefully curated by our Breast Care Nurses, with a focus on providing a rich mix of information, support, connection and fun. It is created by our nurses, for their patients, and has become an important part of the breast cancer experience at St Andrew’s.
It is also a chance for our breast care community to pause and acknowledge the remarkable care and support provided by our Breast Care Nurse team throughout a patient’s journey.
We are proud to create a space where patients and their loved ones can connect with others who understand their experience, hear from inspiring speakers and simply enjoy time together.

Meet our Special Guest Speaker
Dr Tonia Mezzini
We are delighted to welcome Dr Tonia Mezzini as the special guest speaker at the 2026 St Andrew’s Breast Care Luncheon. Dr Mezzini is a Sexual Health Physician with extensive experience in women’s health, sexual health, menopause and chronic pelvic pain. She completed her medical degree at Flinders University and, early in her career, worked in Medical and Radiation Oncology and Palliative Medicine, completing a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine. She completed her specialist training in Sexual Health in 2014 and has worked across a range of South Australian health services, including the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide Women’s Health Centre, Cervix Screen SA and SHine SA, where she was Medical Director. Dr Mezzini has been a lecturer in Sexual Health at both the University of Adelaide and Flinders University and regularly presents to GPs and other specialists. She continues to be involved in clinical research focusing on women’s health and completed a Master of Psychiatry through the University of Melbourne in 2023. We are thrilled to have Dr Mezzini join us and look forward to hearing her share her knowledge, experience and perspective with our breast care community.

- Why does St Andrew’s Hospital hold the Breast Care Luncheon?
The Breast Care Luncheon is one of the ways St Andrew’s recognises Breast Cancer Awareness Month and celebrates our breast care community. For more than 25 years, it has brought current patients and their guests together for connection, information, inspiration and a little fun outside the clinical environment.
The luncheon is carefully curated by our Breast Care Nurses, who create the event specifically for their patients and understand what can be most meaningful and supportive during the breast cancer experience.
- Who is the Breast Care Luncheon for?
The luncheon is by invitation for current St Andrew’s breast cancer patients and their guests. The guest list is generated from current patients, and based on conversations held each day with our breast care nurses.
- I’m a current St Andrew’s breast cancer patient but haven’t received an invitation. What should I do?
Please contact the St Andrew’s Foundation team at foundation@stand.org.au. We would be delighted to hear from you and make sure you have the opportunity to attend.
- Will there be exhibitors at the luncheon?
Yes. A very special selection of exhibitors, invited by our Breast Care Nurses, will be there on the day. This is designed to make the conversations easy and accessible for our patients with those providers who can offer support and information.
- Do I need to purchase anything from the exhibitors?
No. There is no obligation to purchase or book anything. The exhibitors are there purely to offer information, complimentary items and optional services or experiences.
- Can I bring a guest?
You are our guest, but you are welcome to purchase a companion ticket to bring someone with you.

Adelaide Breast Care
Adelaide Breast Care is a specialist mastectomy store providing personalised fitting and support for women following breast cancer treatment. Their experienced team understands that everyone’s body and treatment journey is different, and takes an individual approach to finding comfortable, well-fitting bras and breast forms to suit each person’s needs. They provide a welcoming and supportive environment where women can take the time to explore their options and feel comfortable and confident in their choices.
Chemo Crowns
Chemo Crowns & Hair Loss Systems supports women experiencing hair loss, including hair loss associated with cancer treatment, with a range of options designed to help them feel comfortable and confident throughout their journey. Founded by Sheree, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the hair industry, the service specialises in personalised hair loss solutions, including hair toppers and other methods of securing and wearing hair during different stages of hair loss. Sheree combines her hairdressing experience with specialised hair loss education to provide practical, personalised support for women navigating changes to their hair and appearance.
Dragons Abreast Adelaide
Dragons Abreast Adelaide is a supportive and social dragon boat team for women who have been affected by breast cancer. Established in 2003, the team is part of Dragons Abreast Australia and welcomes women at all ages, fitness levels and stages of diagnosis or treatment. Dragon boating offers the benefits of being active and part of a team, alongside the friendship and camaraderie that comes from spending time with others who understand the breast cancer experience. The team welcomes both breast cancer survivors and women who have not had breast cancer. The team meets at West Lakes Aquatic Reserve on Saturday mornings during the paddling season, with a social catch-up at a local café often following training.
Flourish Therapy Adelaide
Flourish Therapy Adelaide provides gentle, hands-on care for people living with lymphoedema, lipoedema, chronic swelling and scars following surgery or radiation. Their approach is personalised to each person, with a focus on comfort, confidence and supporting long-term wellbeing. Whether someone is newly diagnosed or looking for ongoing support, the team provides a safe and welcoming environment where individual needs and experiences are understood. Flourish Therapy Adelaide can provide specialist support for people navigating changes to their body following cancer treatment.
Lymphoedema Association Australia
Lymphoedema Association Australia provides information, education and support for people living with lymphoedema, as well as their families and loved ones. The organisation is committed to helping people better understand lymphoedema, connect with appropriate treatment and support, and navigate life with the condition. It also advocates for greater awareness of lymphoedema and improved access to quality, evidence-based care. With a strong focus on lived experience and community connection, Lymphoedema Association Australia helps ensure that people living with lymphoedema feel informed, supported and less alone.
Quintessential Care
Quintessential Care provides specialised massage and lymphatic treatments, with a particular focus on supporting people affected by cancer and lymphoedema. Sarah Hughes is a Remedial and Oncology Massage Therapist and Lymphoedema Practitioner, with experience across both clinical and private practice settings. Sarah is passionate about helping people better understand their lymphatic system and supporting their wellbeing through tailored, gentle treatments.
Olive & Bee
Olive & Bee is an Australian-made intimate wellbeing brand, created by former Adelaide physiotherapist Claire Osterstock. Claire developed Olive & Bee Intimate Cream after seeing a need for a gentle, simple option for people experiencing sensitivity and discomfort. The cream is made from just extra virgin olive oil and beeswax and was developed with intimate care in mind. Olive & Bee provides an option for people looking to support intimate comfort and wellbeing, including those navigating changes following cancer treatment.
Pink Lotus Australia
This organisation supports people affected by breast cancer by connecting them with practical resources, community support and services to help them navigate life after treatment. They also provide subsidies for permanent paramedical 3D nipple tattooing for people who have undergone a mastectomy, helping make this specialised service more accessible. Their focus is on providing information, connection and practical support to help people feel confident and supported as they move forward after breast cancer.
St Andrew's Wellbeing
St Andrew’s Wellbeing provides calm, supportive spaces and programs for people affected by cancer, offering an opportunity to step away from the clinical environment and focus on emotional, practical and social wellbeing. Our programs include activities, workshops and opportunities for connection, creativity, movement and rest. Whether you want to try something new, meet others, or simply take some time for yourself, St Andrew’s Wellbeing is here to support you in ways that feel right for you. Membership is free for two years for patients currently receiving cancer care at St Andrew’s Hospital or the St Andrew’s Chemotherapy Suite, with partners, carers and friends also welcome to register. St Andrew’s Wellbeing is now offered across a range of locations within the St Andrew’s Hospital precinct, with our home base at the corner of Gilles Street and St John Lane. Cancer Council SA
Cancer Council SA provides information, support and practical resources for people affected by cancer, as well as their families and loved ones. Their services can help people navigate different stages of the cancer experience, from diagnosis and treatment through to life after cancer. They offer information and support across a range of areas, including emotional wellbeing, practical concerns and connecting people with appropriate services. Cancer Council SA is also a valuable source of trusted cancer information, helping people feel more informed and supported throughout their cancer journey.
