Be Our Jest is Big Gay Piano Bar’s community showcase dedicated to the songs that are actually funny.

From outrageous character numbers and razor-sharp comedy songs to ridiculous patter, biting satire, musical theatre deep cuts and songs that somehow get funnier every time you hear them, this is a night for performers who know how to land a punchline.

The rule is simple: the song itself has to be funny.

Join John Milligan at the piano and a lineup of fabulous performers for a night celebrating the sillier side of musical theatre, with community showcase performances mixed with some spontaneous Big Gay Piano Bar fun along the way.

Expect big characters, questionable choices, impeccable comic timing and at least a few songs that probably shouldn’t be performed in polite company.

Come to support your friends, discover some hilarious performers, grab a drink and enjoy a night of musical theatre that refuses to take itself too seriously.

We want to hear from you!

We’re looking for inherently funny songs from musical theatre, song cycles, cabaret repertoire and other material that feels at home on a musical theatre stage.

Think comedy songs, character pieces, satire, patter songs, absurdity, filthy lyrics, ridiculous storytelling or anything else that gets a genuine laugh.

Performers are selected by video submission.
