An evening of sonic soulcraft with Safiya Labelle & Fake James

Two kindred spirits reunite for an intimate night of music and magic. After lighting up the stage at Revival Festival, Safiya Labelle is back stateside accompanied by Fake James. They are here just for one night to share a more stripped-back, heart-centered version of their melodic alchemy – blending indie-folk roots, electronic textures, and R&B soul into a live experience that invites deep listening and honest connection.

Musicians welcome to come jam with towards the end of the night!

Safiya Labelle – live acoustic set & tender spoken-word poetry

Safiya is a singer-songwriter, violinist, and producer from

Salt Spring Island, BC. With acoustic guitar, rich vocals, and space for in-the-moment improvisation, she blends original songs with her own soulful version of folk-style covers. Her music offers a sonic journey that invites deep listening and heartfelt presence. A student of herbal medicine, she finds inspiration in the rhythms of the wild, the contours of our inner landscapes, and the medicine within how music may be a language for the liminality of the unseen.

Fake James – groove alchemist & creator of the new album Moon Water

FAKE JAMES’ music and lyrics honor Taoist traditions embossed in a holistic worldview. The project’s lead creative mind, River Odishaw, originally started writing songs in 2015, and self-producing music in 2019.

Sonically inspired by artists such as Billie Eilish, Fred again, DROELOE and Elijah Waters, FAKE JAMES captures an atmosphere of belonging to a deeper connection by combining grounding poetry with lush, life-infused musicality.

Expect live piano, violin, saxophone, guitars and layered vocal harmonies, as well as driving electronic backing tracks, and live sampler pad work for additional groove and bass elements.

This passion project’s dedication to enlivening the senses through sound permeates their artistic ethos. “moon water” is coming…
