Mosaic Making – Finishing & Grouting Workshop with Anita from Scrappy Chicks

It's time to put the finishing touches on your mosaic!

Join Anita from Scrappy Chicks for our follow-up mosaic workshop, where you'll have the opportunity to finish your creation and learn how to grout your mosaic.

This session is for anyone who participated in our earlier mosaic workshops and would like to complete their artwork.

If you haven't quite finished gluing your pieces into place, this is your chance to get everything ready for grouting.

After this session, we'll be packing away our mosaic materials to make room for other exciting projects at the residency.

We look forward to seeing everyone's finished creations!

Please note: If you're unable to attend or won't be able to finish your mosaic, please get in touch with Colleen so we can make arrangements.

Part of Stories From The Sea

This Come & Try session is part of Stories From The Sea, a community arts project exploring creative responses to marine debris.

Rather than simply collecting and disposing of ocean plastics, Stories From The Sea invites our community to come together to create, experiment, share stories and imagine new possibilities for the materials we find along our coastline.

Through a series of artist-led Come & Try sessions and activities at the Killarney Arts Residency, we’re exploring what can happen when we look at marine debris differently. What stories do these objects carry? Where might they have come from? What do they tell us about our relationship with the ocean? And how can creativity help us start conversations about the things we use, discard and find washed back onto our shores?

The project brings artists, BeachPatrol volunteers and members of the wider community together to explore these questions through making. Anita’s mosaic session offers another way to transform some of these discarded and found materials – not to disguise where they came from, but to give us an opportunity to notice them, handle them, rearrange them and see them in a new way.

Come along, have a play and see what you can create from the unexpected materials found along our coast.

Stories From The Sea is being developed in collaboration with BeachPatrol3280-3284 and is supported through the Regional Arts Australia Practice in Community program.

The BeachPatrol3280 Killarney Arts Residency is proudly supported by Moyne Shire Council through its Creative Residencies Program and forms part of the Regional Arts Australia Practice in Community project.
